20 graduate students To dispatch, upon requrest, graduate students of Graduate School of Japanese Applied Linguistics, Waseda University, to teach Japanese on one-to-one basis to those pupils who have finished the basic instruction for Japanese adaptation and help them with adjusting to school life in Japan.

To teach Japanese to foreign students enrolled at schools in the wards.

Shinjuku Ward Child Adaptive and educational instruction to foreign and returnee students English for kindergarten, primary/junior high school students; Chinese; Korean: Thai; Spanish; Tagalog, etc. one-to-one basis 1 Japanese language adaptation education; adaptation instruction of Japanese to foreign infants and students. (40 hours for each infant; 50 hours for each pupils; 60 hours for each student + long term instruction for 20 hours) Venue: each kindergarten and primary/junior high school.




1. To develop an instruction handbook for Japanese language adaptation; 2. To develop instruction handbooks for 'Japanese school life' and 'correspondence documents to families' written in five languages so that foreign and returnee infants, pupils, and students enrolled in Ward kindergartens, elementary schools, and junior high schools can have an adaptation instruction; 3. To dispatch instructers for PTA's, private interviews, parent-teacher-student meetings, to ensure that the school and parents can exchange ideas.

3,000JPY for each semester where classes are offered weekly. 6,000JPY for each semester where classes are offered twice in a week. No specific texts; volunteers deal with learners' needs accordingly. Applicants must have a prior experience in Japanese teaching volunteer or the volunteer training program. To promote foreigners to live communally with Japanese by encouraging them to acquire basic Japanese skills needed for daily life.
